the illustrated self

This is such a broad project, that I had to start with a mind-map to try and sort through what I have enjoyed doing this year, the processes I like and what I am interested in

My favourite project from this year has been visual narratives, where I was able to go out and gather my own research from photographs and observed drawings, and the project itself has evolved from that research. I would like to do something similar for this project.
I also really enjoyed playing around with collage in CoP - mixing photography and drawing, so could maybe involve this with PPP.

I set up a pinterest page so to start to gather styles from other practitioners that I am intrigued by and would possibly like to try out for this project

I found it quite difficult to zone in on one particular subject, but what I found myself continuously coming back to was the theme of 'collections'.
Some initial ideas were:
- a collection of drawings of things that are 'overlooked', like peeling paint, textures on walls, weeds, cracks in the floor; exploring things that aren't looked at in much detail and presenting them in a way that makes them noticed. Maybe taking the initial pattern and turning it into a whole other image.
- collection of patterns; from walls, shadows, gates etc. maybe depicting an area just through the patterns that are there.
- a series of drawings of looking up; seeing the world from an angle not always observed. But maybe take the initial image and turn it into something more interesting - take elements like a building and manipulate it into something else, think collage could work well for this idea.

What I'm really interested in is taking the mundane and either transforming it into something interesting, or finding the beauty within it that isn't usually recognised, and presenting it.
But for this to take off, I need to start gathering my own photos and drawings which I can then play around with.
