Although I was enjoying looking at patterns and shape, I didn't feel like I was going anywhere with that subject and it didn't have much depth.
I wanted to do something I was more interested in for this final project, something I could research quite a bit into because I really liked that aspect of CoP.
I was looking through the Folio Society's website and some of the illustrations for their books really stood out to me, like:
Andrew Gibson's illustrations for 'Disgrace'
I love the layering of colour and line work, it makes the image so much more lively and exciting.
And I really loved Bill Bragg's work
Even though I haven't read the book, the illustrations look like they are really capturing the emotion and atmosphere of the story.
I think it would be exciting to do something similar.
I recently finished reading 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac and really loved it, the language he uses is so poetic and engaging, he creates such beautiful images through his writing so I thought that would be a good story to try and illustrate.
I don't want to have a sequential narrative, and the book is too long to illustrate a lot of it as I don't have much time, but I would like to do something similar to the illustrated books in the Folio Society where they take a quote from various pages to depict.
